Golf Solitaire
More games to play
Golf Solitaire is a solo card game you can play free in your browser, on desktop or mobile, with no download or account required. It works unblocked at school or work wherever browser games are allowed. The goal is to empty seven columns by moving cards onto a single pile, one rank up or down at a time. When you run out of moves, you flip from the stock pile and keep going until the board clears or the cards run out.
What Golf Solitaire is
Golf Solitaire uses a standard 52-card deck laid out in seven columns. Unlike classic Klondike, there is no suit-building. You just need each card to be one rank above or below the top of the discard pile. Clear all the columns and you win. Get stuck with an empty stock pile and the game ends. The name comes from counting strokes, not from anything golf-shaped.
How to play Golf Solitaire
Click or drag any exposed card that is one rank higher or lower than the face-up pile to move it. When no valid card is available, click the stock pile to flip a new card. The hint button highlights the best available move. The steal button grabs a random card from a column regardless of rank, which can open up a logjam.
| Action | How to do it |
|---|---|
| Move a card | Click or drag it onto the face-up pile |
| Draw from stock | Click the face-down stock pile |
| Get a hint | Click the hint button |
| Steal a card | Click the steal button to pull a random column card |
Cards, stock, and the steal mechanic
The two special buttons change how the game plays. Hints are safe to use whenever you feel stuck. Steal is a bigger decision: it removes a card from a column at random, so it can open chains or make things worse. The stock pile is finite, and once it runs out there is no going back.
| Tool | What it does | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Hint | Shows the best move if one exists | None |
| Steal | Takes a random card from any column | May not help if the card is not playable |
| Stock flip | Adds a new card to the face-up pile | Stock is limited; plan before burning through it |
Tips for clearing the board
- Play chains as long as possible before flipping from the stock. Long runs of consecutive ranks shrink columns fast.
- Keep an eye on which ranks are buried deep. If you see three Jacks near the bottom, plan around them.
- Use steal sparingly. It costs you control over the column, and the card you pull may not be useful.
- Flipping the stock to escape a jam is fine, but try to have at least one playable card in view before you do.
- Short columns are easier to clear. Target the column with the fewest cards when you have a choice.
